The school just built their tennis court with a grant they received. Months later it was destroyed in the floods that they were warned about in the beginning. Another set of courts were built months later and this one stands there unused. I drive past it everyday thinking of possibilities. They have a planter box in there at the moment with a couple of plants. which gave me the idea of an outdoor classroom/ garden tennis court.
I am currently studying landscape architecture at QUT in Brisbane and I live rurally. I drive past the school everyday, (500metres from my house) and have envisioned a school community garden which the principal is happy to approve. Money is a big thing for this project to be funded. Sustainable and recyclable planters such as car tyres and bottles will be used as the main feature with stronger permanent planters as well. Working bees will be held to slowly finish this off. The school is turning 125 this year in september as well.
